Who We Are
Our faith community began in 1975 as a smal ecumenicall gathering of people who settled in the new Canberra township of Tuggeranong.

We have grown with the Tuggeranong Community, and our parish centre is the hub for our work, as a place of worship, of gathering and ministry.

We aim to help people have life to the full. We welcome people into a our Christian community where they can connect with God, with one another and with opportunities to make a difference in our changing world.

What's important to us
In partnership under God, we have a vision to be a growing and loving community of focused ministries, reaching out to people in the Tuggeranong valley.

We seek to engage our community of Tuggeranong in vital ways that speak of God's love and generosity. This engagement has led to a number of ministries and activities.

We believe that worship is at the heart of our life together. Our two morning services provide a different emphasis for varying spiritual needs. An important part of morning services is gathering after the worship to share over coffee or tea, to engage each other meaningfully and share our journey with each other.

Prayer is important to us. Members of the congregation participate in the the worship services through prayers for the world and the community. A group of people gather regularly to pray for our church, for renewal, and in sharing to deepen their spiritual journey.

Another key aspect of our life is sharing and growing together in small groups, or cells. Over half our number choose to be part of a small group and have found this to be a wonderful way to build friendships, to grow in faith and understanding and to share more deeply about the important things of our life journey.

Beginnings
Our congregation dates back to 1975 as a fledgling community witnessing to Christ in the new suburbs of Tuggeranong.

Our community now encompasses the Tuggeranong and Lanyon valleys which are the southernmost of the seven urban regions within Canberra, Australia's capital city. Our church is situated 17 kilometres south of central Canberra.

The combined population of these two regional urban communities is about 87,000. Of these, 70,000 live in Tuggeranong's 14 suburbs and the remaining 17,000 live in Lanyon's four suburbs. Both groups of suburbs are relatively new: the first were developed from the mid-1970s and the later ones from the early 1990s.

Before Canberra began spreading south into our region, the broad Tuggeranong and Lanyon valleys had been occupied by sheep stations for about 140 years. The two names reflect this history. Each was named after a local grazing property. 'Tuggeranong' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'the cold plain' and 'Lanyon' is a Cornish word meaning 'cold lake' - each apt because our winters are crisp!

Before the first European settlers arrived in the 1830s, Aborigines had lived here for many thousands of years. The traditional owners are the Ngunnawal and Ngarigo peoples.
