What's important to us

In partnership under God, we have a vision to be a growing and loving community of focused ministries, reaching out to people in the Tuggeranong valley.

We seek to engage our community of Tuggeranong in vital ways that speak of God's love and generosity. This engagement has led to a number of ministries and activities.

We believe that worship is at the heart of our life together. Our two morning services provide a different emphasis for varying spiritual needs. An important part of morning services is gathering after the worship to share over coffee or tea, to engage each other meaningfully and share our journey with each other.

Prayer is important to us. Members of the congregation participate in the the worship services through prayers for the world and the community. A group of people gather regularly to pray for our church, for renewal, and in sharing to deepen their spiritual journey.

Another key aspect of our life is sharing and growing together in small groups, or cells. Over half our number choose to be part of a small group and have found this to be a wonderful way to build friendships, to grow in faith and understanding and to share more deeply about the important things of our life journey.

Rethinking our focus

During 2017, our minister retired due to ill health, and our congregation has begun the process of seeking a new minister to lead us in our mission. As part of the process the congregation has examined its mission priorities, and identified three key areas for our attention. These are:

  • Mission and outreach - Consolidating and refining the current outreach activities of the church to ensure our resources and people are well managed.
  • Enhancing our prophetic voice. Developing a Justice Group, cooperating with other congregations on common issues; being active in advocating for justice issues; using our building and signage to advocate for issues; looking for opportunities to connect with organisations sharing our interests.
  • Discipleship and Faith Formation. Being intentional in encouraging and fostering spiritual practices; building linkages in existing partnerships and mission activities; Outreach to others with whom we have existing connections; in conjunction with our new ministry agent, develop actions to grow our congregation.

Organising our life

Our faith community is organised by a ministry council - a body of elders and leaders elected by the congregation to help the congregation shape its vision and work to build up the mission and life of the group.

About Our Church

Our faith community began in 1975 as a small ecumenical gathering of people who settled in the new Canberra township of Tuggeranong. We have grown with the Tuggeranong Community, and our parish centre is the hub for our work, as a place of worship, of gathering, fellowship and ministry.

We come together for authentic and Christ-centred worship. While we worship in a variety of styles, we share a common focus on faithfully listening for God’s Word and sharing His kindness and compassion with others. We express our love for God and others through a range of ministries, and connections with our community.
